Do longer-term muni bonds make sense?
Q
I’m 71 years old and looking to invest in municipal bonds. Should I still look at long-term muni bonds?
A
James A. Klotz responds:
We have never suggested that investors should try to outlive their investments.
Actually, investors in their 70s and 80s buy longer-term bonds to produce the maximum amount of tax-free income.
Keep in mind, your municipal bonds can be passed to your heirs as easily as cash.
